Your Opinion Is Wanted On The Future Of The Downtown Post Office Building

What do you think should become of the grand downtown post office on Lancaster Avenue?
The historic building is being studied for closure because of “excess capacity” the Postal Service’s declining revenues. Simply put, the building is too large and outdated to perform efficiently as a post office these days.
The City of Fort Worth has considered buying the building as a potential City Hall , and the city conducted a study to determine the feasibility of such a move.
Sandra Rybicki, a real estate specialist for the U.S. Postal Service, briefed the City Council on the process for relocating the post service’s retail business. The briefing was the first step of the process, but the decision to sell or close the building could depend on comments received from the council and residents.
