Union Pacific Railroad Announces Temporary Road Closure (August 13-16, 20-24)

Portion of Lancaster Avenue to close August 13-16, 20-24
As part of the Tower 55 rail improvement project, a Public Private Partnership involving Union Pacific Railroad, BNSF Railway, City of Fort Worth, TxDOT, and USDOT, Union Pacific is expanding the rail bridge that runs above Lancaster Avenue near I-35. For the safety of motorists in the area, both the westbound and eastbound lanes of Lancaster Avenue will be closed while there is construction going on above the roadway.
The construction activities that will require the temporary closure of Lancaster Avenue will occur between August 13-16th and August 20-24th. During this time, both the eastbound and westbound lanes of Lancaster Avenue at the rail bridge will be closed to through traffic. The lanes will re-open with traffic resuming at 6:00 am on the 17th and 25th. While pedestrian traffic will continue to be allowed during the closure periods, Union Pacific urges the public to exercise extra caution when walking in the area.
Traffic detours are as follows:
Westbound: Westbound traffic will be directed south on the I-35 access road until Hattie St. Follow the detour signs and turn right/west on Hattie Street. Follow Hattie St. as it turns into Pennsylvania Ave. and turn right/north onto Henderson Street. The detour will end as Henderson reaches Lancaster Ave.
Eastbound: Eastbound traffic will detour off of Lancaster Ave. at Henderson St heading south. Turn left/east at Pennsylvania Ave. and continue eastward as Pennsylvania becomes Hattie Street. Cross over I-35 and turn left/north onto the I-35 frontage road. The detour will end as the I-35 frontage road reaches E. Lancaster Ave.
