TRVA Attempts to Set Waterslide Record at Pantherfest
May 20,2015
They say everything is bigger in Texas and we will soon have the 2,000 foot water slide to prove it! But if the giant slip-n-slide down North Main Street was not enough to prove that sentiment, maybe an attempt to set the record for the longest distance travelled on a slip and slide in one hour in the Guinness Book of World Records will do the trick! That’s right, on Panther Island in Fort Worth, Texas the TRVA is attempting to break the world record for the longest distance travelled on a slip and slide in one hour. All participants who slide between 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. will be a part of attempting to set the new world record!
“Fort Worth is the best city in the nation and I’m so excited that the community is coming together to celebrate its birthday in a fun Fort Worth fashion,” said Fort Worth Mayor, Betsy Price. “I can’t wait to see people from across the whole city show up to put Fort Worth in the record books as we slide the city!,” she said.
The final wave of tickets to the potentially record-setting slip-n-slide down North Main Street will go on sale Friday morning at 9:00 a.m. Anyone interested in sliding down the 2,000 foot waterslide is encouraged to purchase tickets on Friday morning, as they are expected to sell out.
The festival, which celebrates Fort Worth’s birthday, will showcase Fort Worth-based musicians and bands such as Chris Watson, Charla Corn, Shotgun Friday, Legacy 4, Chucho, Adrian Garza, Ryan Tharp, Two Ton Folk, DJ John Pollard and Cody Culberson. The schedule of music on both the Panther Island Brewing and the Fort Worth Harley-Davidson Stages can be found at PantherFest.com.
The festival, produced by TRVA with support from the Tarrant Regional Water District, City of Fort Worth, Panther Island Brewing, Fort Worth Harley-Davidson and Keep Fort Worth Funky will honor some of our favorite things in Fort Worth by featuring craft beer from Rahr, Martin House, Panther Island Brewing and Collective Brewing; live local music and delicious food from Fort Worth-based restaurants such as Reata, Fred’s Texas Café, Buttons, Mexican Inn, Salsa Limon, Chadra Mezza, Smokeys BBQ, Mama’s Pizza, Gypsy Scoops and more. Media sponsors for Pantherfest include NBC 5 DFW, Fort Worth Star-Telegram, DFW.com, Fort Worth Weekly, 95.9 the Ranch and 92.1 Hank FM.
The night will end with a spectacular fireworks show sponsored by two of Fort Worth’s oldest businesses, Best Maid Pickles and Mrs. Renfro's Gourmet Salsa.
