he Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo will overshadow pretty much everything else in town when it gets started this weekend. But you can also catch a new art opening, a tour of movies about wildlife in Texas, an Oscar-worthy film, a happening jazz/classical concert, a new theater production, and two marches for women's rights.

Moudy Gallery presents "Solitude in the City" opening reception
The Art Galleries at TCU presents "Solitude in the City," selected works on paper from the TCU Permanent Art Collection. The exhibition, on display through February 7 in the Moudy Gallery, features a selection of 20 prints that explore the shared human experience of feeling alone or isolated within the crowded urban landscape. The works cover the span of the 20th century, including American Photorealist works, Japanese woodblock prints, and architectural etchings from Italy and France.
Wild Texas Film Tour
The 2019 Wild Texas Film Tour features Texas wildlife, adventure, and conservation short films along with characters from the films, filmmakers, wildlife biologists, and other experts. The tour, which is showing all over the state over the next two months, will screen at the Amon Carter Museum of American Art.

Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo
The Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo is a three-week long event that folks look forward to all year long. Besides the daily rodeos at Will Rogers Coliseum, there are also shows with pigeons, chickens, goats, and more; livestock auctions; a parade through downtown Fort Worth on January 19; a midway with carnival games and fair food; and multiple concerts. Tickets to the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo includes free admission to the nearby Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, the Cattle Raisers Museum, and the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame. It will run through February 9.
Magnolia at the Modern Film presents Shoplifters
One of the films favored to be nominated for Best Foreign Film at this year's Oscars, Shoplifters is about a Japanese couple stuck with part-time jobs and inadequate incomes who avail themselves of the fruits of shoplifting to make ends meet, yet manage to take in a child they find on the street. The film, which is in Japanese with English subtitles, will screen seven times through Sunday at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth.
Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra presents Ragtime, Blues, & All That Jazz
In this tour de force concert, Byron Stripling showcases ragtime masters Scott Joplin and Jelly Roll Morton plus blues legends B.B. King and Muddy Waters. Stripling returns to Fort Worth for a weekend of entertaining and humorous vignettes about the music and its creators. The concert will play three times through Sunday at Bass Performance Hall.
Theatre Arlington presents Dead Man's Cell Phone
An incessantly ringing cell phone in a quiet café. A stranger at the next table who has had enough. And a dead man – with a lot of loose ends. So begins Dead Man’s Cell Phone, a wildly imaginative new comedy about how we memorialize the dead — and how that remembering changes us. The play will run at Theatre Arlington through February 3.

Denton Women's March
The 2017 Women’s March inspired hundreds of women to run, millions more to vote, and dozens to win elected office. The 2019 Women’s March marks two years of resistance to the Trump presidency, two years of training new activists, and two years of building power. The Denton march, coinciding with the national march in Washington D.C., will begin in Downtown Denton Square.

Fort Worth Women's March
Due to the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo, the Fort Worth Women's March will take place on Sunday instead of Saturday, but that doesn't make it any less important. The Fort Worth march will begin at the Tarrant County Courthouse and go throughout downtown Fort Worth.
