The Fort Worth Public Library Foundation and Fort Worth Library Announce Two Grants to Fund Major Improvements at the Ce

Fort Worth, April 17, 2014: The Fort Worth Public Library Foundation and the Fort Worth Library celebrate the pre-renovation kickoff of two capital improvement projects in the Central Library supported by the Sid W. Richardson Foundation and Speedway Children’s Charities.
Library Director Gleniece Robinson said, “We are excited for these improvements and the new reading and distance learning programs that we will be able to offer as a result. Children and families will visit the Central Library as a downtown destination.”
The Sid W. Richardson Foundation generously funded the renovation of the Discovery Theatre. The Discovery Theatre will be transformed into a vibrant space for children to learn, play, craft and interact with each other—in person and around the globe through distance learning programming.
Speedway Children’s Charities awarded a generous grant to create Fast Track to Reading, a racing-themed area dedicated to children’s reading programs. To encourage reading and a love of learning, Speedway Children’s Charities will bring race car drivers, pit crews, mechanics and other racing personnel for family reading opportunities in the Central Library located downtown.
“Funding from private donors makes these projects possible by helping to increase the margin of excellence. We are grateful to the Sid W. Richardson Foundation and Speedway Children’s Charities for their investment in children and learning,” stated Library Foundation President Leslie Oliver.
Renovation begins this summer and promises increased fun for Fort Worth’s children and families in Fall 2014.
