Texas A&M University School of Law National Black Law Student Association (BLSA) moot court and mock trial teams advanced to the national finals in Cincinnati, Ohio later this spring.

In moot court, second-year students Destin Germany and Arielle Williams placed second at the Southwest Regional of the Thurgood Marshall Moot Court Competition in Dallas in January. The team was coached by former student and local attorney Nikki Chriesman-Green.

The mock trial team of third-year students Gianna Redeemer, Melanie Smith, Dameron Barron and Nicholas Coward placed second at the Southwest Regional of the Candace Baker Motley Mock Trial Competition and was coached by local attorney Doug Greene.

"Good luck to both teams who sacrificed a holiday break to practice and prepare for the competition," said Jennifer Ellis,  advocacy program director.
