Tabachin Ribbon dedicated during Hispanic heritage celebration

FORT WORTH — The city’s annual Hispanic Heritage month celebration Wednesday featured artist Yvonne Domenge and her Tabachin Ribbon sculpture, which sits in front of Fort Worth’s Municipal Courts Building.

“The first things that I have observed being some days here in Fort Worth is the spirit of community that you have that doesn’t exist very much,” said Domenge, noting Fort Worth’s cowboy culture, a love for the arts and embracing technology.

“This is a very special place, and I’m very happy to give this sculpture to you,” Domenge said. “You know what I want from her? I want her to make somebody happy.”

Singers proudly belted out the national anthems of both Mexico and the United States, while guests sitting at tables covered in red, white and blue table clothes cheered and enjoyed the many performances during the two-hour celebration. — Caty Hirst Star Telegram

The Ceremony included remarks from Master of Ceremonies Mayor Pro Tem Sal Espino, City Manager David Cooke, Dr. Juan Hernandez, Greg Ibanez, Mayor Betsy Price, Consul Feneral of Mexico Jose Octavio Tripp, and Artist Yvonne Domenge.
