FORT WORTH (February 17, 2014) – New non-stop express bus service on Fort Worth’s North I-35W corridor to and from downtown was approved by the Board of Directors of the Fort Worth Transportation Authority (The T) at its meeting today. The service is expected to begin this summer.
The T is constructing a new Park & Ride facility on the western side of I-35 near Heritage Trace Parkway. The T will operate three morning and three late afternoon non-stop trips designed for commuters between the new Park & Ride facility and the downtown Intermodal Transportation Center (ITC). The express bus schedule also will be coordinated with Trinity Railway Express (TRE) schedules.
The board approval followed feedback from public information meetings, a public hearing, and a public comment period that demonstrated overwhelming support for the new service.
“This is our initial commitment to the North I-35W corridor,” said Scott Mahaffey, chair of The T’s board. “We believe this will provide a much needed service for our growing city,” he said.
The new North Park and Ride facility will be along the south bound service road on the western side of I-35W between Golden Triangle Boulevard and Heritage Trace Parkway.
