The All-Western Parade will be Jan. 17 at 11 a.m. in downtown Fort Worth. The annual tradition, featuring horses but no motorized vehicles, dates to 1896.

Look for daily rodeo action, carnival fun, acres of shopping, kid-friendly attractions and much more during the 119th Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo. The 23-day event will feature Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and specialty rodeo performances, as well as exhibitors with animals such as cattle, horses, rabbits and sheep.

Cool side note: It’s easy to make it into a big Fort Worth day out, since general stock show grounds admission includes free entry to the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, the Cattle Raisers Museum and the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame.

The annual All-Western Parade, which features plenty of horses and no motorized vehicles, is a tradition that stretches back to 1896 (Comanche chief Quanah Parker was part of it in 1909). This year, it begins Jan. 17 at 11 a.m. and features the Fort Worth Herd drovers, stagecoaches, equestrian troupes and more in downtown Fort Worth. Viewing is free for spectators standing along the parade route, but reserved parade seating is also available in advance (check the website for details).

Musical acts scheduled to perform at the Coors Light Roadhouse on the stock show grounds include singer- songwriter Joe Ely on Jan. 20, country singer Jolie Holliday on Jan. 27 and recent Voice finalist Luke Wade on Feb. 3.
