Re-Dedication Of Cam Schoepp’s “Hats” Sculpture

September 6,2013

The re-dedication of the sculpture "Hats" by Fort Worth artist Cam Schoepp took place at the sculpture’s new location, the Fort Worth Community Arts Center at 1300 Gendy Street, during Fall Gallery Night in Fort Worth on September 7, 2013 at 4:00 p.m.

“Hats,” a whimsical installation of five limestone sculptures, was installed in front of the Fort Worth Community Arts Center after over a decade residing in General Worth Square along Main Street, as a long-term loan to the City of Fort Worth. “Hats” was created during the 1999 sculpture symposium, an initiative wrangled by former Arts Council President Ken Kahn to bring attention and community support to community visual artists. Area stakeholders supported the Cultural District location finding the sculptures to be “simple, and beautiful abstractions of everyday objects,” and a good complement to the O’Neil Ford designed limestone building. Artist Cameron Schoepp is a long-time resident of Fort Worth and a professor of art at Texas Christian University.
