Public input sought on future bus, rail needs of Tarrant County
February 5,2015
Ideas, thoughts and comments to help shape the vision for public transportation in Tarrant County are being sought through a new website launched recently by the Fort Worth Transportation Authority (The T).
“TMasterPlan.org offers information about The T’s efforts to create a master strategy for bus and rail service in Tarrant County,” said Paul Ballard, president and chief executive officer of The T. “But even more critical, is that the site offers a variety of ways to provide input and from a variety of perspectives.”
There are currently two online options for participation, he explained. One is a survey that allows a person to provide feedback as a passenger or someone who has used The T’s transit services. The other is the project’s MindMixer Town Hall site, which provides an online forum for participants to share their thoughts on the vision for transit in Tarrant County. The site serves as an online conversation for The T Master Plan (TMP), where community members can discuss their ideas, share photos, take polls, and interact throughout the project. An interactive online tool will also follow that allows people to design the transit system based on their preferences and priorities for transit.
“The T Master Plan is a vision for transit that will act as a blueprint for transit projects and policies to make Fort Worth a more affordable, equitable, and enjoyable place to live and do business,” Ballard stated. “The plan looks at the transit service we have today, identifies the opportunities to expand transit service to meet the growing needs of the region, and determines how we will make it all happen.”
The T and the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) are working in partnership to develop the TMP, he added.
Other ways to participate in the TMP are described on the website. Included are signing up to receive notices, public meetings, and a Project Bus that will be available at community events. Ballard encourages people to share the website address with friends, family, coworkers, and other associates.
