Public Forums Offer Opportunity to Share Transit Ideas

April 2,2015

The public will have six different opportunities to show officials with the Fort Worth Transportation Authority (The T) how transit could best serve Tarrant County and beyond in the near-term and in the future.

Six public meetings at five different locations in and near Fort Worth are scheduled to take place in mid-April for The T’s Transit Master Plan. The meetings will serve to inform The T’s Transit Master Plan that is currently underway. The plan will include a review of current service, identify opportunities to expand transit service to meet the growing needs of the region, and determine what resources could be allocated to pursue those opportunities.

“Since launching the T Master Plan in late February, we’ve been able to gather and organize the data that helps to paint a picture of current trends and future needs,” said Paul Ballard, president and chief executive officer of The T. “Now, we want to bring this information to the public so people can react to the data and help identify ways transit can improve mobility in and around Fort Worth and add value to the region.”

The meetings will be open house-style events, with several interactive activities featuring maps where attendees can show how they would improve service, as well as tradeoff exercises where participants can vote for their priority transit issues. Staff will give a brief presentation during each open house to share the progress of The T Master Plan. Attendees will be able to talk one-on-one with T staff, or participate in a question and answer session after the presentation.
