New retailers are looking at Sundance Square in downtown Fort Worth and University Park Village west of downtown.

Although both sides are not confirming, White House Black Market appears to be considering a store in Sundance Square, according to a recent permit filing.

The filing doesn’t list an address, but the store will likely go into the new Westbrook Building on the west side of the new plaza in a spot adjacent to Starbucks. Sundance executives have said that space would not go to a restaurant and was being held for a retailer.

Melanie Cohen-Nathan, a White House Black Market spokeswoman, said the company doesn’t confirm new store locations until leases are signed. “We don’t have any additional information right now,” she said. The chain operates other Tarrant County stores at the Arlington Highlands, University Park Village in Fort Worth, Paragon Outlets in Grand Prairie and Southlake Town Square.

Over at University Park Village, property manager Susan Holland said it has signed J.McLaughlin, a 35-year-old women’s and men’s clothing and accessories store founded in Brooklyn, for the south side of the property, between Anne Taylor and Lemongrass Salon.

Interior construction on the 1,200-square-foot store will start April 1 and take 60 to 90 days, she said.

J.McLaughlin’s other Texas stores are at Prestonwood Center in Dallas, and in San Antonio and Houston.

And Austin-based jewelry maker Kendra Scott may be looking to University Park Village for a store as well, according to a recent filing.

Holland said the center hasn’t executed a lease with Kendra Scott and an email request for comment to the retailer’s headquarters went unanswered.

Holland said the shopping center may announce next week which retailers will occupy the space once occupied by the Barnes & Noble bookstore, which is being divided into smaller spaces.
