The Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce’s efforts to help attract young professionals (YPs) to Cowtown has new cyber muscle — FWhat.

Vision Fort Worth, the Chamber’s YP program, plans a public Jan. 14 launch party at the Flying Saucer downtown to celebrate the micro-website that will sell YPs on relocating here, where they can enjoy opportunities in growing their careers while pursuing quality of life and civic involvement.

FWhat, a play on the DFW acronym, increases Fort Worth’s edge in competing with cities nationwide for young talent, said Vision Fort Worth Director Brittany Bates.

“Our city has so much going for it,” she said. “This microsite is going to help get out the word to young professionals. We conducted research that found that many young professionals outside of Fort Worth either aren’t aware of us or their perception of Fort Worth is that it’s just a cowboy town without much urban feel.”

FWhat quickly addresses those issues with high-energy design, content and links that show how “Fort Worth is at the top of everything (YPs) are wanting,” Bates said.

With statistics, photos and more, the website focuses on YP priorities from career opportunities to affordability, cultural strengths, community involvement, housing, nightlife, shopping and higher education.

FWhat is particularly useful for companies involved in the high-stakes search for young talent, Bates said. “It’s a strong resource for them to showcase Fort Worth.”
