In July, many Fort Worthians were surprised to hear that the beloved comedy troupe, Four Day Weekend, would be moving from its location at 312 Houston Street following a non-lease renewal by Sundance Square. That same month, the famed Reata Restaurant also announced a move from Sundance Square to its original spot at 530 Throckmorton St., due to the same scenario.

Now with the beginning of another month, MELT Ice Creams, a business that shared a building with the former Reata locale, is following the same pattern. A press release sent out by the company read, “It is with mixed emotions that MELT Ice Creams announces the closure of its beloved Sundance Square location. After years of serving the community with handcrafted, delicious ice creams in this vibrant spot in Sundance Square, we’re making way for new downtown Fort Worth opportunities as our lease comes to an end.”

MELT Ice Creams has been serving cold treats at 308 Houston Street in Sundance Square for five years. Now, it seems this cold treat favorite is already looking for a new spot.

“While we’re closing this chapter due to circumstances out of our control, we’re looking forward to new adventures downtown and in the meantime, continuing to serve you at our other locations,” according to a press release.

The other locations include a spot at 122 E. Exchange Avenue, 1201 West Magnolia Avenue, 480 Shops Blvd Suite 200, Willow Park, and a location at 405 N Bishop Avenue in Dallas.

The Sundance Square location’s last day of operation will be Sept. 8, so there’s no time to waste getting your favorite cold treat at this location for the few days it remains open. MELT prides itself on being locally owned and has become popular for its handcrafted flavors made with top notch ingredients.

“We are incredibly grateful to our loyal customers and the Sundance Square community for their support over the years,” said Kari Seher, founder of MELT Ice Creams. “While we are disappointed, we are focusing on the positive memories and the joy we’ve been able to share with everyone who visited our shop and have an exciting announcement coming very soon. We love downtown and want to continue to have a presence in our community downtown.”
