Make sure the only thing heating up on July 4 is fireworks by planning ahead and getting all the information you need on events and traffic plans for the Fort Worth's Fourth celebration.
With an anticipated crowd of more than 100,000 for the events downtown, the Fort Worth Police Department has put together a traffic plan to make it easier, quicker and safer to get to the events planned for July 4.
More than 160 Fort Worth PD officers will be out July 4 managing traffic, and the Police Department's website will have maps and routes information, as well as information on all the activities planned.
At 8:30 p.m. Fort Worth PD will began setting up the outbound traffic plan for all of the events. From 2:30 p.m. to midnight the right northbound lane of Henderson Street — from White Settlement Road to Interstate 30 — will be dedicated as an emergency vehicle lane only. This lane will be coned off to all vehicle traffic except for emergency vehicles. This is to ensure our first responders can efficiently respond to an emergency. Anyone driving in the emergency lane may be issued a ticket.
Those attending Fort Worth's Fourth can get updates on traffic by following the Fort Worth Police Twitter account and the Facebook page.
The Fort Worth's Fourth celebrations are free, family-friendly events hosted on the banks of the Trinity River at Panther Island Pavilion. It includes family activities, music, food and more — including fly board and jet ski shows.
Then, when the sun goes down, at about 10 p.m., a spectacular fireworks show begins.
