Lone Star Film Festival

Fort Worth, Texas—April 22, 2014—MovieMaker Magazine placed the Lone Star Film Festival (LSFF) in Sundance Square on it’s coveted annual list, “Top 50 Film Festivals Worth the Entry Fee” for the second year in a row, once again highlighting the festival’s continued ascent as one of the most important film festivals in Texas.

MovieMaker Magazine is the best selling independent movie magazine in the world. For more than 10 years, the magazine has compiled this annual list as a guide for filmmakers seeking direction in how to maximize time and resources in working to have their films seen by as wide an audience as possible. Factors including alumni relations, networking and press opportunities, and quality of workshops and panels as well as filmmaker testimonials were considered.

The ranking stressed the significance of the innovative LSFF filmmaker support program that provides mentorship for feature filmmakers accepted into the festival in the marketing and distribution of their films. The magazine cited the participation of industry ‘biggies’ Ted Hope and Jon Reiss in this important program.

In only it’s 8th year, the Fort Worth, TX based LSFF proudly ranks among veteran festivals such as the 22-year-old Hamptons International Film Festival, the 20-year-old Palm Springs International Film Festival, and the renowned 21-year-old Austin Film Festival for the second year in a row. The LSFF is one of three Texas film festivals, and one of only two festivals from North Texas, to make this year’s list.

In 2013, the Lone Star Film Society (LSFS) hosted its most successful festival to date, nearly doubling the amount of submissions received over 2012 and exponentially increasing pass sales to the event. The New York Times listed LSFF as one of the most interesting events in Texas for
the month, stating ‘The Lone Star Film Festival shines brightly’. In addition, 2013 LSFF programming received a total of 14 Academy Award nominations, including those for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor and Actress.
