Main St. Fort Worth Arts Festival patrons can expect later trains to serve their travel needs when the April 9-12 celebration gets underway.
Trinity Railway Service will follow late night hours on Friday April 10 and Saturday April 11, as well as offer Sunday service, according to the Fort Worth Transportation Authority, or The T.
Meanwhile, park-and-ride bus shuttles will operate on Saturday from both Farrington Field and Billy Bob’s in the Stockyards to and from downtown.
The idea is alleviating traffic congestion downtown where Main Street and intersections at Second through Ninth streets will be closed to vehicle traffic.
Special eastbound trains will depart from The T’s downtown Intermodal Transportation Center, 1001 Jones St., after the end of the festival on Friday through Sunday nights. The Trinity Railway Express ITC Station is a short walk to Main Street.
Riding the Trinity Railway Express requires a regular fare, valid rail pass or reduced pass with valid photo ID. Admission is free for those younger than 5 if accompanied by parent or guardian. Fare and schedule information is available at www.trinityrailwayexpress.org.
On Friday and Saturday, the late TRE eastbound train departs at 11:35 p.m. from the Intermodal Transportation Center station. The last TRE Sunday train departs at 8:35 p.m. also after the festival ends.
The special trains from downtown Fort Worth to Dallas will stop at all stations across the corridor as needed. TRE riders returning to Dallas from the festival may check Dallas Area Rapid Transit schedules at www.dart.org for DART rail-bus connections to their final destination. The TRE eastbound 11:35 p.m. train does not connect with any DART rail service at Union Station. On Sunday, no bus shuttles run between CentrePort Station and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.
The T’s Saturday bus shuttles will operate from two park-and-ride locations every 20 minutes from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. One shuttle will operate between Farrington Field and the intersection of Ninth Street at Houston (Hyde Park), and the other shuttle will run between Billy Bob’s Texas and the intersection of Second Street at Houston. Parking at Billy Bob’s and Farrington Field is free. The shuttle cost is a regular round trip bus fare of $3.50, $1.75 for child-student, senior or disabled, if qualified.
Children younger than 5 ride free if accompanied by parent or guardian. Shuttle fares are cash only. Or to load The T’s GoPass App, riders may visit www.gopass.biz.
