Join YWCA for "Clean Out Help Out" on April 23, 2014

Fort Worth – It’s spring cleaning time, and the YWCA Fort Worth & Tarrant County invites you to join the Clean Out Help Out Happy Hour benefiting the YWCA’s Resale & reDesign Shop. This popular annual event, now in its fourth year, takes place from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23 at the Historic YWCA, 512 W. Fourth Street, in downtown Fort Worth.

There are 45 hostess spots available – each hostess makes a $50 donation supporting the YWCA and invites friends, family and colleagues to join her for a free, fun happy hour. Guests are asked to donate gently used clothing (women’s, men’s and children’s items accepted), shoes, jewelry, accessories and housewares. In exchange for their donations, guests will enjoy free refreshments and hors d’oeuvres while networking in the YWCA’s gorgeous historic ballroom.

Donated items will be sold at the YWCA Resale & reDesign Shop, located at 6500 Camp Bowie Boulevard in Fort Worth. Since opening in 2003, the store has contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to the YWCA’s programs benefiting low-income women, children and families in Tarrant County. Revenue from the store and other YWCA-run social enterprises (including Power Lunch catering and rental of the Historic YWCA event venue) make up nearly a quarter of the YWCA’s annual $4.5 million budget.

One in 10 women and one in four children live in poverty in Tarrant County. The YWCA Fort Worth & Tarrant County transforms the lives of these women and children by moving them from poverty to independence through an array of no- and low-cost housing services, affordable high-quality child care that caters to at-risk children, and financial empowerment services that give women and families the tools they need to become financially self-sufficient.
