If you don’t bleed burnt orange or cape crimson and cream, then odds are that the Red River Shootout Rivalry is the worst weekend in Dallas for you. We get it — all the bars get overwhelmed with interlopers either from Austin (meh) or Norman (double meh), you can’t grab a reservation to save your life, and traffic slows to a halt.
But what if we told you there was an alternative that was away from the madness, and that it had all the beer you could ever want? That would work for you, right? Then it’s a good thing that Flying Saucer’s 13th Annual Fort Worth BeerFeast is taking over Sundance Square Plaza on October 6 for an afternoon dedicated to our favorite beverage.
It’s not often that we mention Fort Worth, but when there are more than 120 beers to be had from across the country as well as Belgium, Germany and England, then it feels like the sort of event that we should bring to your attention. Oh, and Japan. They’re truly going all over the world. If you know anything about Flying Saucer, you know that they take their beer very seriously, which means that you’re getting… *does math in our phone*... more than 10 dozen of the best beers that the world’s brewers have to offer.
When you get a general admission ticket, you’re lining yourself up for 12 2-oz beer samples plus a commemorative taster glass for just $35 presale. (Some good karma for you: $3 of every presale ticket goes to the Tarrant Area Food Bank.) The toughest part is going to be deciding which beers we’re going to select, but that’s definitely half of the fun.
And since you’re clearly here for business, you’ll want to check out the VIP ticket which gets you into BeerFeast an hour earlier at noon, plus a 2018 BeerFeast T-shirt to go with your taster glass and a food voucher to get some grub from one of the restaurants on Sundance Square.
Oh, and you get into a VIP-only section that includes its very own beers that you can’t get anywhere else at BeerFeast. Shorter lines, earlier access, super exclusive beer, AND a T-shirt? Sounds right up our alley. Plus, when you buy a VIP presale ticket, you’re automatically entered for the chance to win VIP tickets for life. That would make you very, very important.
So, treat October 6 as an opportunity to get away from the madness and head west for the afternoon to enjoy the 13th Annual Fort Worth BeerFeast. And remember: Beer is good, but getting home safely is good-er. That’s why LYFT riders can use the code BEERFEAST18 for 35% off a ride to or from BeerFeast.
