A company based in downtown Fort Worth is donating personal protective equipment to schools across Tarrant County. GM Financial is giving 50,000 face masks to the Fort Worth ISD and 50,000 to the Arlington ISD.

GM Financial is a unit of General Motors and provides auto loan financing to car dealerships across the country. It has nearly 1,000 employees at its headquarters in downtown Fort Worth and thousands more in Arlington.

"With the continued threat of COVID-19, these masks are one way we can contribute to a safe learning and working environment for two of our local school districts," said GM Financial President and CEO Dan Berce.

Officials with both school districts say the masks will help keep students and teachers safe by limiting the spread of COVID-19. "We will be able to put these masks to great use to ensure that our staff and students are safe, which has always been our number one priority," said Arlington ISD Superintendent Dr. Marcelo Cavazos.

"GM Financial’s generous donation of 50,000 masks has a major impact on helping us help children and our employees," said Fort Worth ISD Superintendent Dr. Kent Scribner.

The company is also donating 50,000 masks to the San Antonio ISD.
