Francesca’s boutique to open in Sundance Square next spring

Francesca’s, a fast-growing women’s clothing and accessories store, will open in Sundance Square next spring.

The store is leasing 1,400-square-foot space in the corner last occupied by RadioShack at 400 Commerce Street. The space is adjacent to Del Frisco’s Grille and across Commerce Street from H&M, which opened earlier this year in the former Barnes & Noble bookstore.

Johnny Campbell, president and CEO of Sundance Square, said Francesca’s has a deep customer loyalty, making it a good fit for Sundance Square. The company (ticker: FRAN), founded in 1999 in Houston, has six other Tarrant County stores, according to its website.

“Francesca’s limited quantities of individual styles and new merchandise every few days will make Francesca’s a regular go-to destination in Sundance Square,” Campbell said in a statement.

Francesca’s is designed and merchandised to feel like an upscale boutique, Sundance Square said. Also, the store is known for its diverse and balanced mix of high-quality apparel, jewelry, accessories and gifts at affordable prices, they said.

Altogether, Francesca's has more than 660 stores in 48 states and the District of Columbia as well as an e-commerce site at francescas.com.

RadioShack’s Sundance Square store was short-lived. It opened in October 2013 to great fanfare under the direction of then-CEO Joe Magnacca, only to close 16 months later as the once-huge Fort Worth-based consumer electronics chain shuttered hundreds of stores in bankruptcy. The space has since been vacant.

H&M, a popular fashion retailer, opened its Sundance Square store in April.

Sundance Square is a 35-block commercial, residential, entertainment and retail district in the heart of downtown Fort Worth.
