Improvisational comedy troupe Four Day Weekend will leave its longtime time home in Fort Worth’s Sundance Square next month and is searching for a new venue.
Four Day Weekend said Sundance Square management declined to renew the show’s lease at the Houston Street theater it has occupied since 1997.
“We are deeply saddened that we won’t be able to continue our journey in Sundance Square, a place that has been our home for nearly three decades,” said David Wilk, a founding member of Four Day Weekend. “However, we are excited about finding a new location in Tarrant County where we can continue to bring laughter and joy to our loyal audiences.”
Four Day Weekend has a second location at 5601 Sears St. in Dallas, just off Greenville Avenue.
“Improv teaches you adaptability,” Wilk said. “It teaches you to fail fast and move on. We now have to figure out what we are going to do from this point forward. This isn’t what we had wanted, but we are looking at this situation as an opportunity.”
Four Day Weekend has performed for two U.S. presidents and has received numerous accolades, including the Small Business of the Year award from the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce and the Key to the City from former Fort Worth Mayor Mike Moncrief for being “Fort Worth’s Greatest Ambassador,” the group noted in a news release.
