NBC 5 and A Culture of Community invite you to the Fort Worth BookFest on Saturday, October 20. This free, family friendly event will take place at Tarrant County College Trinity River Campus Downtown. Fort Worth BookFest is a cross-cultural, community driven event, highlighting national and local authors of all cultural backgrounds.
BookFest will feature over 90 authors, artists, publishers and booksellers. Internationally renowned spoken word artist, author, actor and activist Michael Guinn, will facilitate the first “Differences & Diversity Spoken Word Competition.” The competition will begin with a Creative Writing Workshop, followed by an Open Mic session.
Richard Gonzales, author of Riza Rising: Chicanos in North Texas, will moderate an author panel to explore the Latinx experience. The panel will spotlight culturally contemporary Latinx authors and poets, who will share passages from their published works and engage the audience in discussion.
The Parade of Characters is back again, showcasing your favorite storybook characters and super heroes. Children’s Square will offer story time with stories being read by notable community leaders and local celebrities.
