Last weekend, Jan. 18-20, marked the 2nd busiest 3-day stretch in the history of the program, trailing only Memorial Day weekend in 2013. Nearly 400 (382) individuals checked out a B-Cycle on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

“We are thrilled that our mild January weather has provided so many great opportunities for people to try out the system,” Executive Director Kristen Camareno said. “A good first experience will hopefully encourage riders to incorporate bike sharing into their weekly routine."
Wednesday, Jan. 22, marks the nine-month anniversary of the system launch on Earth Day, April 22, 2013. To date, more than 9,000 riders have logged nearly 20,000 trips for more than 78,000 miles.

From 4/22/2013 – 1/22/2014:
Trips 19,791
Miles 78,069
24-Hour Members 9,271
Annual Members 416
Calories Burned 3,122,760

“I was really glad I got an annual pass because I used the bikes a lot more than I had figured,” said citizen photojournalist Brian Luenser. “I had not ridden a bike in 20 years but was surprised how fast it came back to me. I love the freedom of being able to go down to Magnolia, park my bike, walk around having fun and not having to worry about it anymore. When I’m ready to go home, I just go to the nearest station.”

Through the month of January, Fort Worth Bike Sharing is offering $1 Wednesdays to encourage first-timers to try out the system. The final $1 Wednesday is Jan. 29.
