Fort Worth B-Cycle Launch Success

April 22,2013

This morning, Downtown Fort Worth, Inc. participated in the launch of Fort Worth B-Cycle, the City's new bike sharing program and the first in North Texas. The inaugural ride for Fort Worth B-Cycle will included 300 volunteer riders, including Mayor Betsy Price, Council Member Joel Burns and The T President Dick Ruddell.  The riders pedaled the fleet of 300 red bike sharing bicycles from Burnett Park to one of 27 docking stations located throughout Downtown, Near Southside, Cultural District and TCU.  Currently there are 11 Downtown bike sharing stations.  The Fort Worth Public Improvement District (PID) #1 is a participating sponsor of the Fort Worth B-Cycle and has several bikes branded with the PID logo throughout the center city.  Other sponsors include Sundance Square, Fort Worth Convention and Visitors Bureau, UNT Health Science Center, Texas Christian University, Omni Fort Worth Hotel, City Place, Fort Worth South, Inc., West 7, The Amon Carter Museum, Fort Worth Transportation Authority and Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital.  The ride commenced when Mayor Price rang a ceremonial bike bell with all riders following suit.  Fort Worth B-Cycle will be available to the public 24 hours a day.  More details at http://fortworth.bcycle.com/
