The W. 7th Street bridge is a gateway between downtown Fort Worth and its cultural district, and through the partnership of the city of Fort Worth and TxDOT, a new reinforced concrete “thru-arch” signature bridge will be constructed. TxDOT designed the bridge with six arch spans across the Trinity River to improve safety and pedestrian access, which will add to the architectural re-development underway in this corridor. The original bridge was built in 1913 and was extended in 1953 when the river was re-channelized.
