The closure is part of the West 7th Street Bridge construction

Detour Map

WHEN:
March 18 through March 27, and April 3 through April 12

WHERE:
Forest Park Boulevard from W. 5th Street to W. 10th Street in Fort Worth

Forest Park Boulevard will be closed starting on March 18 for approx. 10 days for construction on the W. 7th Street bridge, weather permitting.  The closure is necessary for crews to dig the shafts for the bridge's new columns. An additional closure lasting for approx. 10 days will begin in early April.

Northbound
Forest Park Boulevard motorists will be detoured to eastbound W. 10th Street. Motorists will then turn left on Penn Street, and then turn left on W 5th Street and back onto Forest Park Boulevard.

Southbound
Forest Park Boulevard motorists will be detoured to eastbound W. 5th Street.  Motorists will then turn right onto Penn Street, and then turn right on W 10th and back onto Forest Park Boulevard.

The W. 7th Street bridge is a gateway between downtown Fort Worth and its cultural district, and through the partnership of the city of Fort Worth and TxDOT, a new reinforced concrete "thru-arch" signature bridge will be constructed. TxDOT designed the bridge with six arch spans across the Trinity River to improve safety and pedestrian access, which will add to the architectural re-development underway in this corridor. The original bridge was built in 1913 and was extended in 1953 when the river was re-channelized. Additional project information is available at: www.fortworthgov.org/seventhstreetbridge/.
