First Annual Mayor's Triathlon Coming To Fort Worth
June 17,2013
A very unique Sprint Triathlon is coming to Downtown Fort Worth this July 7. The First Annual Mayor's Triathlon, which combines all the character and charm of Fort Worth with a truly urban feel, will include a 300-meter pool swim in the downtown YMCA pool, a 15-mile bike ride, followed by a hilly 3.1 mile run. The swim will be hosted by the Amon G. Carter, Jr. Downtown YMCA. The 15-mile bike ride will consist of two laps through your historic neighborhood, so come cheer on the cyclists! Cyclists will be on the road starting at 7:05 AM and the last riders should be finishing the course around 9:00 AM. The run course will go through downtown.
This unique urban triathlon is especially exciting because all proceeds will benefit the Fort Worth Fire Fighter Association’s new 501(c)3 organization, Fort Worth Firefighter Charities. This organization will be supporting the great community service projects the Fort Worth firefighters do around town. Mayor Betsy Price will be participating in the
triathlon as well. Triathletes from all over Texas and the U.S. have signed up to compete and experience all the wonderful things that Fort Worth has to offer.
