Fighting Irish Fans Converge On Fort Worth, Arlington

FORT WORTH — Gold and blue will color Tarrant County this weekend as Notre Dame’s Fighting Irish meet No. 22 Arizona State Saturday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
The 6:30 p.m. football game, billed as the 2013 Texas Shamrock Series, is the feature event in a long list of activities that Notre Dame officials and fans are participating in during the weekend, including a pep rally Friday afternoon in downtown Fort Worth.
Here’s a look at the some of the Tarrant County events:
8 a.m. Friday: Notre Dame’s Alliance for Catholic Education will visit St. Rita Catholic School,712 Weiler Blvd., Fort Worth for Mass and the presentation of the Notre Dame Sorin Award for Service to Catholic Schools.
11:30 a.m. Friday: Special kickoff luncheon at the Worthington Hotel, sponsored by the Notre Dame Alumni Association and Notre Dame clubs of Fort Worth and Dallas. Speakers include Notre Dame President Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C., Head Football Coach Brian Kelly, and former Fighting Irish and NFL great Tim Brown. Tickets: $75. Doors open at 11:30 a.m., luncheon begins at noon.
2-5 p.m. Friday: Notre Dame Alumni Association and Fort Worth Catholic Charities will sponsor a Shamrock Service Project at the Catholic Charities Assessment Center, which provides a safe, temporary home for children placed in the care of Child Protective Services.
4:45-6 p.m. Friday: Free concert featuring local artist Charla Corn followed by a Notre Dame pep rally at 6 p.m. at 9th and Main streets. The Notre Dame Band will march to the pep rally on Main, starting on 4th Street, followed by the Fort Worth Herd.
10 a.m. Saturday: Special Mass with Notre Dame President the Rev. John I Jenkins at St. Patrick Cathedral, 1206 Throckmorton St., Fort Worth.
3:45 p.m. Saturday: Notre Dame marching band concert, AT&T Stadium West Plaza, Arlington.
6:30 p.m. Saturday: Notre Dame (3-2) vs. No. 22 Arizona State (3-1) at AT&T Stadium, Arlington.
