ESPN has taken up its major sports event position at Fort Worth's Sundance Square, broadcasting coverage for the inaugural College Football Playoff National Championship game.

The broadcasts began this morning at Sundance Square in downtown Fort Worth, where ESPN plans to provide a full week of coverage culminating with the national championship game, which is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 12, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

On Friday, the Dallas Business Journal published an entire issue highlighting the business of Irving-based College Football Playoff. In it, we looked at the venues behind the inaugural game, the power players that brought the championship game to North Texas and the highlights from a roundtable discussion with some of Dallas-Fort Worth's sports marketing heavy hitters.

ESPN's coverage will include commentary from hosts Chris Cotter, John Saunders and Joe Tessitore, with a number of analysts on hand, including Todd Blackledge, Mack Brown and Butch Davis.

Sundance Square has served as ESPN's broadcasting home for major events, such as the North Texas Super Bowl XLV in 2011 and the NCAA Final Four earlier this year.
