DFWI Winter Luncheon

November 9,2011

In 2003, the Fort Worth City Council adopted the current Downtown Strategic Action Plan. The 2003 SAP was the second consecutive 10 year plan created to set the vision for downtown, identify clear objectives and articulate a strategy for achieving those objectives. The progress of downtown over the last 20 years and the engagement of so many private and public interests in the systematic improvement of our center city are directly linked to the 10 year planning and implementation cycle.

View the latest version of the SAP Update, a one page summary we use to track the implementation progress. As you will see, great strides have been taken during the current cycle. Targeted transportation improvements have been completed. Trinity River Vision progress has been steady. Parks are being improved. Historic buildings have been renovated. Office space has been filled. Eyesores have been addressed. Residential development has blossomed. Urban design has been elevated. The list goes on, and the accomplishments are impressive.

In 2012, we will begin the cycle again, using the year to imagine, plan, question old ideas and test new ones. We - you, the City, the T, the County, DFWI, the hundreds of stakeholders and community groups that are engaged in the progress of downtown - will work to craft a 2023 vision of downtown and map out the strategies to make that vision a reality.

To launch this exciting next chapter in downtown's growth and development, we hosted Chris Leinberger, Visiting Fellow at the Brookings Institution, as our December 1, 2011 luncheon keynote speaker. Mr. Leinberger, one of the nation's leading urban thinkers, discussed downtown best practices and emerging trends.

We hope that you will consider sponsoring other events like this. Your event sponsorship is not only invaluable to DFWI, but also benefits all of Downtown and the entire city of Fort Worth. Several sponsorship levels are available, so please take a few minutes to look over them over.

Thank you to those who attended this sold-out event!
