The City Council adopted a “clean zone” in and around Sundance Square Plaza to create the perfect atmosphere for ESPN’s Aug. 29-30 college football broadcasts.

The zone is intended to restrict certain activities in and around the plaza and along Main Street north to the Tarrant County Courthouse. These activities are banned:
•Temporary structures like tents, canopies and air-inflated structures.
•Outdoor sale or distribution of food or merchandise to the public from any street, property or sidewalk. Existing cafes around the plaza will be allowed to continue business as usual.
•Outdoor distribution of literature, material, goods or wares.
•Outdoor displays like portable signs, flags, banners, video screens, balloons, electronic message boards, inflatables and building wraps.
•Temporary vending.

The clean zone is expected to create a backdrop that is consistent with the festive image associated with college football, city officials said.

ESPN selected Sundance Square as its broadcast headquarters during the event. ESPN will conduct outdoor live broadcasts from a stage set up in the center of the plaza, using the Tarrant County Courthouse and Main Street between West Third Street and the courthouse as its backdrop. There will also be additional broadcast shots in and around Sundance Square, including a football field set up to the west of ESPN’s broadcast stage.
