10 buses display art of Expressions That Move You winners in Fort Worth After School Program

FORT WORTH, TEXAS (June, 11, 2014) – Art created by students in the Fort Worth Independent School District (FWISD) Fort Worth After School Program may be viewed on the outside of ten Fort Worth Transportation Authority (The T) buses throughout the summer. The art is by winners of The T’s annual “Expressions That Move You” contest.

The T announced the 10 winners of this school year’s competition at the Fort Worth Independent School District Board of Trustees meeting on June 10. Each winner’s art has been displayed on the side of one bus.

The “Expressions That Move You” contest calls for artwork depicting a theme of what The T, public transportation, the City of Fort Worth, and/or the environment means to the student. Entries were judged on theme, artistic merit and creativity. The ten winners were selected from 120 entries divided into two categories: Elementary School (K-Grade 5) and Middle through High School (Grades 6- 12). Winners received art supplies in addition to recognition with their families at the FWISD board meeting.

"We believe ‘Expressions That Move You’ provides an opportunity for students in the Fort Worth After School Program as well as for The T,” said Richard Maxwell, The T’s assistant vice president of marketing. “By recognizing the talents of tomorrow’s community leaders, The T is able to better understand what motivates them, and in turn, help to move them toward an interest in art as well as toward support for public transportation, their city, and protecting the environment.”
