7th Street E-Alert: Forest Park Closure - Sept. 19th - 28th
September 19,2013
As part of the W. 7th Street Bridge construction, Forest Park Boulevard between W. 5th and W. 10th will be closed for 10 days starting on Thursday, September 19th (weather permitting). The closure is needed to allow crews to complete the remaining activities on the bridge structure.
The W. 7th Street bridge is a gateway between downtown Fort Worth and its cultural district, and through the partnership of the city of Fort Worth and TxDOT, a new reinforced concrete “thru-arch” signature bridge will be constructed. TxDOT designed the bridge with six arch spans across the Trinity River to improve safety and pedestrian access, which will add to the architectural re-development underway in this corridor. The original bridge was built in 1913 and was extended in 1953 when the river was re-channelized.
