7th Street E-Alert: Forest Park Boulevard to Open TODAY

October 24,2013

WHEN: Thursday, October 24th afternoon

WHERE: Forest Park Boulevard – between W. 5th and W. 10th Streets (MAP)

WHAT: Crews are scheduled to reopen Forest Park Boulevard this afternoon to traffic after completing the placement of concrete for sidewalks on the new West 7th Street Bridge. Both northbound and southbound lanes of Forest Park Boulevard between W. 5th and W. 10th Street will be opened in time for motorists to use the road for their PM commute. Additional closures of Forest Park Boulevard will be needed in the next several weeks to complete remaining work.

The new $26 million West 7th Street signature arch bridge replaces a 100-year-old bridge that was beyond rehabilitation with limited pedestrian access over the Clear Fork Trinity River and Trinity Park. The series of sculpted network arches with their unique, modern architecture and their ability to be viewed by motorists and pedestrians both above and below the bridge will announce the entrance to the city’s vibrant downtown and cultural district. The design, while complex, still allowed for Sundt Construction, Inc. to pursue an aggressive schedule. Additional project information is available at: www.fortworthgov.org/seventhstreetbridge/.
