7th Street Bridge to be Replaced

September 21,2011

The City of Fort Worth and Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will be replacing the W. 7th Street Bridge over the Trinity River between Summit Avenue and Stayton Street.  They plan to minimize the time these roadways are completely closed to traffic and complete the project in a safe and timely manner.  To avoid inconveniencing the public during holidays and the annual Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo, no lane closures or complete street closures will occur from mid-November to mid-February during the construction.  There will be no complete closures along W. 7th street and N. Forest Park Boulevard from August 2011 to January 2013, while bridge elements are pre-casted off site.

The contractor will start working on the bridge in February 2013 right after the Fort worth Stock Show and Rodeo by closing the outside lanes of the W. 7th Street Bridge (one lane in each directions will still stay open until June 2013).

From June/July 2013 to mid-November 2013m w. 7th Street will be completely closed to traffic so that the remainder of the existing bridge can be removed and the proposed bridge can be built.  N. Forest Park Boulevard also will occasionally be closed to traffic during this time.  To learn more visit the City’s website at www.fortworthgov.org/seventhstreetbridge or contact Assistant Director of Transportation and Public Works, George Behmanesh, at 817-392-7914 or George.behmanesh@fortworthgov.org
