2011 Parade of Lights Highlights

December 19,2011

On Friday, November 25, 2011, Downtown Fort Worth Initiatives, Inc. (DFWII) once again hosted the city’s single biggest night in downtown, a favorite holiday tradition – the 29th Annual Chesapeake Energy Parade of Lights presented by CHASE. With over 100 highly illuminated entries, 500,000 lights and the brilliant Sundance Square Christmas Tree, the Parade of Lights once again set the city's heart aglow for the 2011 Christmas season.

This year’s parade received a generous outpouring of support from across the Fort Worth community, featuring Grand Marshal, Mayor Betsy Price.  Participants included corporations and nonprofit organizations, marching bands, car clubs and equestrian groups as well as novelty entries such as the Fort Worth Unipsychos and the world-famous Wheelie-ing Elvi, all donning lights and the season’s regalia to celebrate this year’s theme of “Christmas Delights!"

Thousands of families from around the DFW Metroplex came out to watch Downtown Fort Worth light up thanks to the brilliant parade, the lighting of the Sundance Square Christmas Tree, and the unveiling of the new state-of-the-art LED light system on 18 buildings in Sundance Square, and the illumination of the campus of Chesapeake Energy, including new LED lighting on the top of their Fort Worth Headquarters on Energy Way.

For those who missed the enchanted evening or would like to experience it all over again, TXA-21 will broadcast an encore presentation of the Parade of Lights at 9 p.m. on December 24, Christmas Eve.
