Artspace111 is proud to present the latest solo exhibition Journey of the Lost Lobo, featuring artist Dennis Blagg. Journey of the Lost Lobo is a series of paintings created after the passing of Blagg’s older brother Woodrow Blagg and his best friend Vernon Fisher in April of 2023. Big Bend becomes a stage for a play about death as the final act, lit by light of a full moon. The cast consists of crows, buzzards, horses and mules. The main character is the Lost Lobo and like a ghost he casts no shadow. The Lobo represents those in the grip of death and the spirit of those we have lost, reflecting Blagg’s feelings about the totality of life. Both Woodrow and Vernon died of cancer and both were intimidating and inspirational figures in his life. Journey of the Lost Lobo is a meditation on the metaphors of the landscape of comfort, grief and absolution.
